Hand Smocked with fine pintucks, lace, bows and roses, Dress - Sarah

The size of this white beautiful dress is 18 months and is also available in sizes 3 and 6 months and 1 year. This dress is made using 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The design is adapted from one published in Smocking & Embroidery™ #82.

The front yoke has pintucks, insertion lace on each side of a centered bow and tails. The front yoke has been enhanced with a pink bullion rose and green leaves. The white bow and tails are embroidered using DMC® cotton floss in shadow work. The dress has a bias band around the collar line. The skirt has been attached to the yoke using self-fabric mini piping. The front skirt has been hand smocked using Finca® blanc Egyptian #16 cotton thread. Pink satin stitch bars along the smocked rows and three (3) bullion pink roses in the center enhances the upper part of the skirt. The bullion roses on the skirt have been finished with two (2) leaves each (using detached chain stitch), one French knot, two sepals (using fly stitch), and one stem using green DMC® cotton floss. The lower part of the skirt has a total of eight (8) hand stitched bow and tails matching the bow and tails in the upper front yoke, four (4) French knots on each side of each bow, and two (2) pintucks stitched from each bow and tails. The lower edge of the skirt is enhanced with two (2) continuous additional pintucks. The lower edge of the short puffed sleeves has been finished with lace edging. The sleeves have two (2) centered pintucks each and are smocked with matching stitches.

The back yoke has a placket (for easy put on take off) and closes with two clear Dill® bottoms. The self-fabric liner has been enhanced with a tack and 2 inches wide cotton lace around the edge of the skirt. The side seams of the dress and liner have been finished using French seams.

Pre-shrunk and machine washable.

Due to availability of lace patterns exact laces as shown in the picture cannot be guaranteed. Similar laces may be substituted.
