Hand Smocked Dress – Ina

This beautiful hand smocked dress is appropriate for Special Church days, Easter Sunday, Christmas, ‘her’ birthday and any other ‘very special occasion’.

Uniquely designed, this dress is made of Spechler Vogel© Imperial (65% Polyester and 35% cotton) batiste fabric. The classic lines of this dress enhance special occasions. The bodice is hand smocked using Anchor© Marlitt 100% Rayon enhanced with a total of 15 roses, embroidered using bullion knots, along the lower edge of the yoke.
The collar has been finished with self fabric bias band along the edge. The puffy sleeves have been lined with white silk organza; which help to keep the shape; and have been cuffed using a bias band. The circumference of the skirt is approximately 3 yards and the hem is enhanced with a strip of 1" ivory insertion Cluny lace and an approximately 3 ½" wide band.
The back yoke is plain, fastens with three (3) mother-of-pearl hand sewn buttons (an extra button is included, ‘just in case’), a sash tie, and a placket having a length of approximately 4", which makes for easy put-on and take-off.
The side seams of the dress are French seams. The dress is lined with an underlay of Spechler Vogel© Imperial (65% Polyester and 35% cotton) batiste fabric for comfort with ivory 2 ½" Cluny edge lace and French side seams for strength.
The hand smocked, machine washable, pre-shrunk, perma-press dress is beautiful, comfortable, and functional.
As with all truely hand smocked garments, small irregularities will be found in the stitching, showing that the dress is genuinely hand smocked, adding to the charm and value of the garment.
This dress is available in white, specially suited for First Communion.
